About the role:
We are seeking a passionate IT Field Support Technician to deliver reliable technical solutions and hands on support for network and IoT projects across AWC’s diverse operating environments. This role is responsible for the end to end delivery of IoT deployments, technical troubleshooting, and close collaboration with stakeholders to enhance field operations. The ideal candidate brings strong technical capability, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine interest in innovation, teamwork, and conservation, contributing directly to AWC’s mission through practical fieldwork and continuous improvement of IT systems and processes.
Reporting to the Chief Technology and Information Officer, you will be a key member of a collaborative IT support team. You will work closely with teams across Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Philanthropy, and Health, Safety and Environment, supporting system services and providing day to day technical assistance to employees. You will also partner with internal stakeholders to understand business processes, identify opportunities for efficiency, and deliver practical solutions such as forms, workflows, and reports.
This role offers hybrid working arrangements and the unique opportunity to visit and work at some of AWC’s incredible sanctuaries and partnership sites, as required.
Critical competencies:
- Technical Skills
- Experience in planning, implementing, and commissioning Network and IoT projects.
- Designing, deploying, and supporting Ubiquiti-style point-to-point networks.
- Familiarity with NB-IoT, LTE, LoRaWAN, and satellite backhaul communications.
- Monitoring IoT management systems (Tago IO highly desirable).
- Proficiency in Linux environments and coding languages such as Python and Node.js.
- Experience with Microsoft technologies, including Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate.
- Experience with AI on the Edge equipment (for example Jetson Nano or Orin).
- Experience with Raspberry Pi control systems.
- Electrical, mechanical, or network engineering skills or practical experience.
- Designing, implementing, maintaining, and documenting business processes and procedures.
- Applying networking and telecommunications knowledge across a range of operational tasks.

- Ability to develop practical solutions using current and emerging technologies.
- Experience exploring and implementing Microsoft 365 applications for integration with information management systems.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow in a progressive and evolving organisation.

Qualifications:
Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or Technical fields.
Licenses, Certificates and/or Training:
- Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (police check).
- A valid manual driver's licence.
